NOTD: Coach Poppy Nail Polish Set

I recently recieved this from a friend and was surprised to know that Coach released a nail polish set!!! {scroll down for a comment on the brush quality}

The colors are called: (left to right) Ballet Pink, Purple, Mink Grey.

The bottles are gorgeous!
The gold tops are embossed with the signature Coach Poppy print.

Ballet Pink is an opaque pale pink color. It's pretty streaky and needs at least 3 coats to get rid of most of the unevenness. {An alternative would be Butter London's Teddy Girl seen here.}

 Purple is a jelly-like polish that reminds me of Essie's Bahama Mama {see this post}. It needs 3 coats for opacity.

 Mink Grey is a true grayish-purple polish. It is fully opaque with 2 coats.

The only thing that I did't like was the quality of the brushes, 2 out of 3 of the brushes were bent and flared, making application uneven and difficult. The bottles are gorgeous though, and will look great displayed on my vanity!

NOTD: Butter London Knackered {Revisited}

So, I wasn't at all happy with knackered on its own and decided that I needed to revisit it.

What a great idea it is to layer it over different colors, especially greens, purples, and blues!

Knackered over Essie Stylenomics.
It turned the base color almost black {it's actually a dark green} and gave it an amazing 'starry sky' effect!

NOTD: Essie- Bahama Mama

Bahama Mama is extremely similar to Chanel's Provocation {the FNO limited edition polish}. I will have to do a post comparing the two.

Bahama Mama is supposed to be a deep purple color, but it's more of a dark redish-purple. It's one of those must have shades for Fall and Winter. I used 2 coats and it was perfect, 3 coats will make it an even darker richer color.

With no sunlight and flash Bahama Mama looks almost identical to Chanel's Provocation

NOTD: Butter London- Knackered

This polish is really weird, both in color and in application. It reminds me of the deep sea water and mermaids.

Knackered is a purplish-grey color with a green sheen to it depending on how you look at it: It can look like a muddy silver color, or purple-silver, or purple-green. It has a blue undertone and chunky silver glitter.
{as you can tell, I wasn't able to capture all the colors in pictures}

I needed at least 4 coats for opacity. Upon further inspection I was able to see my nail line as well as unevenness from it's poor application and consistency. It tends to get gooey.

This picture shows the range of colors the best- purple at the bottom and green towards the top.

I really thought this color was going to be amazing, but it turned out weird and lacking, definitely not worth $12.

NOTD: Chanel Provocation Swatches {FNO Limited Edition polish}

I finally received Chanel's Fashion Night Out limited edition nail polish Provocation!
{The lipstick is still on its way}

Provocation is a dark plumy burgundy color with a creamy consistency, it goes on fully opaque with 2 coats and looks amazing! The quality of this nail polish is exceptional, it goes on beautifully.

Get this polish while you still can, limited edition Chanel items always sell out fast.

NOTD: Chanel Vendetta

Vendetta is a very deep purple with purple & blue shimmer. It almost looks black when not in direct sunlight. It's fully opaque after 2 coats and is glossy enough not to need a top coat.

{I used Seche Vite because Finals week of summer school is here and I need to focus on my exams and not so much on my nails!} :(

 I seem to always get wear on my tips with Chanel nail polishes... immediately after I paint them. I also notice that most of my nails are opaque after 2 coats, but there is always that random bald spot near the base. I bet this means that I'm either pressing down a bit too hard, or not waiting long enough between coats.

Good luck in this new year to all of you who are starting school!

NOTD: Ombré Effect- Essie's Main Squeeze

This manicure is a bit weird, I used eyeshadow to create the gradient effect. It took me a few tries to get the effect that I was looking for and I have to say, I could never get this sort of gradient using only nail polishes.

  •  After applying 2 coats of color to each nail I painted the third coat individually, waiting until the polish was just dry enough on my nail,
  • I the brushed over the nail gently using flat nail art brush loaded with pulverized eyeshadow. This is the crucial step, if the polish wasn't dry enough I risked pulling it off with the brush.
  • I went over the bottom 1/3 of the nail with another coat of polish and brushed over it again to concentrate the color even more.
  • I finished it off with a coat of Seche Vite and this is what I got!

In the bottle Essie's Main Squeeze is a light grey-ish blue color with a fine purple sheen, on the nail it translates as more of a light purple blue with a great purple sheen :)
